Mary Had A Little Lamb is rare in the fact that it is backed by an actual story that historians can confirm. In the late 1800's, a young student named Mary Sawyer decided to bring her pet lamb to school. Of course, this spurred excitement among the students and staff to occur. A young man named John Roulstone happened to be visiting the school that day and was inspired by the incident. Mr. Roulstone returned to the school the next day with the original first three stanzas of the nursery rhyme written.
